CYCLING CLUB PEDALS ON THE TOURETTE
CLUB HISTORY
Ángela and Fernando (our president) are the parents of three children, one of them affected by Tourette's Syndrome, who lived an ordeal of years and medical visits until their diagnosis (including the suffering of buylling at school age).
Within everything they experienced, what they needed most was the help and understanding of others, especially society and the lack of medical knowledge about TS, so they decided to found a cycling club with which to pedal while spreading , destigmatized and raised funds for any research related to the syndrome.
Thanks to the people who joined them, this club was founded 6 years ago and, with the sale of merchandising and donations, more than €4,000 was received by the team of Dr Tiago Maia, a group of scientific researchers from the University of Lisbon. what They took several years with an investigation already completed on the TS.
Currently and without knowledge of scientific research being carried out, our donations will go to the Blue Project of Obra Social Ischaida, who are dedicated to training assistance dogs for those affected by Tourette Syndrome.
The path traveled so far has not been easy at all and the one that remains to be covered does not seem to be going downhill.
We are a very modest Club, with barely twenty people, which we hope will grow little by little and continue adding desire and enthusiasm to this solidarity project that is so difficult but at the same time so beautiful.

Our objectives
Give visibility to all those affected by this rare disease.
The diffusion of what Tourette Syndrome is, its causes and symptoms
Create awareness in society about the real existence of this rare disease.
An early diagnosis and more research on rare diseases in general and TS in particular, since it is what moves us.
Our vision
The future we are moving towards is a future where people who live with and suffer from Tourette's Syndrome can have a treatment that will at least palliate their symptoms, although the perfect thing would be for a cure to be found. That they be accepted in society as one more, without being teased and seen as weirdos.

DESTINATION OF THE FUNDS RAISED BY THE CYCLING CLUB PEDALADAS POR EL TOURETTE
All the funds raised by the Club are destined for everything that has to do with research into the disease and/or causes that in some way support a better life for people who suffer from this rare disease.
These funds are currently allocated to Obra Social Ischaida and its "Blue" project.
